Effective Date: April 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the TreeNote mobile application ("the App") handles information. TreeNote is developed and maintained by Ed Lord ("the Developer"). This policy applies to your use of the App on your device.
The App does not collect, transmit, or store any personally identifiable information on any external server. TreeNote operates entirely offline.
Specifically, the App does not:
All notes, hierarchies, application settings, and user preferences are stored locally on your device using a private SQLite database. This data is held in the App's private storage area and is not accessible to other apps or to the Developer.
When you uninstall TreeNote, all local data is permanently deleted unless you have previously exported it using the App's Export feature.
TreeNote uses the following Android system permissions, only when you explicitly invoke a feature that requires them:
.tree (or .json) file to a location you select via the system file picker. Import reads a .tree (or .json) file from a location you select. The App does not read or write files outside these explicit user actions. The App does not request or use Internet access, Location, Camera, Microphone, Contacts, Background services, or any other system permission.
TreeNote does not integrate with, transmit data to, or receive data from any third-party service, analytics provider, or advertising network.
TreeNote does not knowingly collect any information from any user, of any age. Because no information is collected, the App cannot inadvertently collect information from children.
All data is stored exclusively on your device. You may, at any time:
.tree file via Settings → Export all data, or for any subtree via the row's ⋮ → Export subtree menu.Because no data is transmitted to the Developer or any third party, the Developer cannot access, retrieve, or restore your data once it has been deleted from your device.
Because no data is transmitted off your device, there is no network transmission to secure. Data stored on your device is protected by your device's own security mechanisms (screen lock, full-disk encryption, etc.) as configured by you and the device manufacturer.
If this Privacy Policy is updated, the new version will be posted at this URL with an updated Effective Date. Material changes will also be noted in the App's release notes on the Google Play Store.
